Jared was born and raised in Hicksville, Ohio, a rural community east of Fort Wayne, Indiana. He attended Ohio State for undergraduate studies, where he majored in political science. Jared spent his 1L summer working for the Ohio Sentencing Commission and his 2L summer working for the Brooklyn District Attorney’s office in the Appeals Bureau.

Rachel Palermo
Rachel is originally from New Brighton, Minnesota. She attended St. Olaf College and graduated with degrees in political science and economics. Prior to law school, she worked in Washington, D.C. for three years at the Democratic National Committee and then as a political consultant. She was a summer associate at Faegre Baker Daniels her 1L summer. At NDLS, she is an oralist on the Moot Court Board and is President of Women’s Legal Forum.

Jacqueline Heafey
Jacqueline Heafey is from Miami, Florida. She attended Vanderbilt University and graduated with a degree in Mathematics and Economics with a minor in Scientific Computing. This past summer Jackie interned with the Honorable Spencer Eig of the Eleventh Judicial Circuit of Florida. Outside of school, she enjoys cheering on the Irish, practicing yoga, and hiking.

Y. Amy Chen
Amy is a third-year law student at Notre Dame Law School. She was a Summer Associate at Eversheds Sutherland, Atlanta, Georgia for her second-year law school summer. She will be returning to Eversheds Sutherland post-graduation in either the Finance or M&A practice group. For her first-year law school summer, she was a Summer Associate and Diversity & Inclusion Fellow at Taft Stettinius & Hollister LLP, Chicago, Illinois. Prior to attending law school, Amy worked for Accenture in Washington, DC as a Technology and Management Consultant for the Department of Health and Human Services and Department of State. She has three years of experience in implementation and change management for technology solutions. Additionally, Amy holds a Bachelor of Science in Business from Indiana University, Kelley School of Business. Amy grew up in Moultrie, GA. In her free time, she enjoys painting, drawing, and ballet.

Grace Nickels
Grace Nickels is originally from Clarendon Hills, Illinois. She graduated from the University of Notre Dame in 2017 where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in American Studies. Grace spent her 1L summer at the City of Chicago Law Department in their Labor Division. Grace spent her 2L summer as a summer associate at Seyfarth Shaw in their Chicago office, where she will be returning after graduation to practice labor and employment law.

Clarissa Wilbur Berger
Clarissa Wilbur Berger is from Washington, DC. Clarissa graduated from Princeton University in 2014 with a degree in civil engineering and a minor in Spanish. She has 4 years of work experience in the construction industry. During her 1L summer, she worked as a research assistant for Professor Bruce Huber. In her free time, Clarissa enjoys hiking, running, and playing piano.
